If you receive referrals and need to assess them prior to the initial consultation, here are suggested workflows using Regular Tasks - Communications/Results
- Ensure the Communication Type Referral is in Utilities - Lookups - Communications - Communication Type aka Category.
- Ensure the Communication Status in Utilities - Lookups - Communications - Communication Status has the following or similar.
- Referral pending
- Make appointment.
- Do not make an appointment.
Assess the referral prior to making an appointment.
Adding the Referral
- Search if the Client is already in DCM
- If so, select them.
- If not, add new.
- Add/Update client details.
- Verify with Medicare Online to include an Online Eligibility Check if necessary.
- Add the Referral details.
- Right-click on the Referral and select Scan Communication or go to Communications and select Scan.
- Ensure the Communication Type is Referral, and the Communication Status is Referral Pending
- You can rename the document and add comments.
- Generate other communications if required (e.g.: Questionnaire, Letter of Introduction, etc.). If using the Electronic Health Record or the Theatre Management Module, these files can be viewed from there.
Viewing and Managing Referrals Pending
- Go to Regular Tasks - Communications/Results
- Select Communication Status Referral Pending resulting in a list of all Clients with Referrals Pending
- Double click on each to view the Referral Letter to action.
- On closing, you are prompted to select an Action.
- Make appointment.
- Do not make an appointment.

- Contact the Client and make an appointment.
- Search if the Client is already in DCM
- If so, select them.
- If not, add new.
- Add/Update client details.

- Add the Referral details.
