Due to Patient Privacy, at this point in time neither the Provider nor the Software Vendor can be informed by Medicare of the Patient's Safety Net. ECLIPSE does not provide a specific return message/code from confirming that the patient’s safety net has been reached. As a result, DCM will process the transaction without realising that this will result in an overpayment to the provider.
However, on transmitting a Patient Claim if a Lodgement Advice is returned instead of a Statement of Benefit, this in the majority of instances could be due to the Patient having reached their Safety Net.
The Patient can confirm if they have reached the safety net via the following methods.
- My Gov account
- Visiting a service centre
- Calling 13 20 11
- Use Express Plus Medicare App
