This is the main Dashboard of DCM and from where you access enabled functionality.
On opening DCM, The CONTROL Centre launches with the default view being List listing all bookings today for all Entities and all Locations unless you have set in Utilities - Configure - General - Per Machine Properties - Persist Entity and Location from last log in.
This list is populated by ...
- Making Appointments in the Calendar
- Selecting Add to List
- Feeding in from an Upstream App (eg: Audiology, Oncology, Pathology, Radiology)
Layout
- The very top of The CONTROL Centre details the current version and logon details. The controls on the right are for minimising, resizing and closing the DCM App
- Below that is the System/Minor Location ID and a Support Number to call
- Next are the business details and a Refresh button. Should any update of detail not take immediate effect, select the Refresh button
- Announcements for all to view can be managed
- Choose the various views
- Filters
- Customisable columns per User/Logon to include Group by and more Filters
- Calendar Control on the top Right-Hand-Side
- Menu on the right that can be moved to the left if you prefer by going to Utilities - Configure - General - Per Machine Properties - Show Main Control Centre Menu on Left
The CONTROL Centre has five views:
List view (default view)
- Choose a View - List
- When first opening DCM you are in List View at 'today's date'
- If any appointments/bookings have been made in 'Calendar View' for today, they will be listed here for you to view and manage
- If using another 'upstream' programme for appointments and clinical examinations (e.g.: RIS, LIS, OIS or other), this list is populated automatically by those programmes. How?
- The upstream application generates a HL7 message that DC reads in resulting in:
- Use existing Client Record or Create New
- Use existing Referrer or Create New
- Create the Referral
- Create the Appointment
- Create the Invoice
- The upstream application generates a HL7 message that DC reads in resulting in:
- The Appointment Status is shown by colour
- Appointment Statuses can be triggered to change by an event (e.g.: invoice, receipt) or by right-clicking and selecting Change Appointment Status
- Use the Calendar control on the top right-hand side to change days
- Lists can be sorted ascending and descending by clicking on any heading
- Press CTRL+A to select all in the list.
- Press CTRL+C to copy. You can then paste to Word or Excel
- Right-click to view menu options

- Double click on any Client in the list to open their record
Calendar view
- Choose a View - Calendar
- DCM accommodates scheduling/availabilities and appointments from the DCM Calendar View
- If you are comfortable using Outlook, you will have no problem using the DCM calendar
- The DCM Outlook Add-in can also be installed to synchronise the calendars with Outlook
- You can also install Direct CONNECT for browser access
- Schedules/Availabilities can be setup as well as Appointment Types and Appointment Statuses. How?

- The Calendar can be opened in its own window and dragged to another monitor or minimised to the Taskbar. This allows you to have the List View open to manage workflow and quickly access the calendar for managing appointments. How?
- Select Show Full Screen Appointment Book on the top left-hand side
- You can open as many Calendars as you wish
- Select Show Layout Options to:
- Choose the Appointment Status Indicator (recommended setting is Icon)
- Choose the Appointment Type Indicator (recommended setting is Background)
- Select the Appointment Text Details. Recommended selections and order are:
- Time
- Name (Last, First)
- Comments
- Appointment Status
- Enter the Visible Hour Range Start (7) and End (19)
Note: These options are per device. If a user changes the preference, then another user logs into the computer, it will appear with these changes. Icon and Background are the defaults for Appointment Status Indicator and Appointment Type Indicator.
When you select, it will auto save.
Enquiries View
- Choose a View - Enquiries
- Enquiries can be populated manually or via a feed from a web page
- To populate manually, select Add to List
- Go to article - Setup Direct CONTROL: Enquiries Module, for instructions on how to setup
Search Client view
- Choose a View - Search Client
- Use this view to search for clients instead of having to click on Regular Tasks – Clients or pressing [Ctrl]+[O] or F2 each time.
- Normally used for research or perhaps managing bad debts
List by Date Range
- Choose a View - List by Date Range
- Enter from Date
- Enter to Date
- Select Load Data
- Respond Yes to the warning taking note that with many appointments, this could take some time to generate.
- Use the Group and Filter feature for better views.
- Copy/Paste to Excel if necessary
