DCM has the option to add SMS templates to Appointment Types. The automation of these are on the RoadMap for development.
Ensure the SMS template is in DCM by going to Utilities - Templates (AutoText) - SMS tab - Add - create the SMS and use the bookmarks to bring data through from the patient file. Snip below
To add an SMS Template to an appointment type, go to Calendar view > Manage Appointment Type > Select the appointment type line to highlight it > SMS Template - choose the template > Save > Close. If you go to the Manage Appointment Type in Calendar view, find your appt type and see the SMS Template isn't there you want, you can click on the three-dot button ... and it will open the Templates (AutoText) area as a shortcut. You can manage the templates from here too.
To use this function once you have it saved. You can go to List view > highlight all appointment types > right click > Send SMS. It will use the template assigned to that appointment type.
Unlike Templates (Word) where you utilise Microsoft Word and Bookmarks, Templates (AutoText) is used to save content for:
- Appointments Comments
- Prepayment messages (must use Basic Text)
- Progress Notes (can use Rich Document)
- Reminder/Recall Messages (must use Basic Text)
- SMS messages (must use Basic Text)
- Transactions (Can use Rich Document)
- Includes Remittance options.
Templates (AutoText) can be accessed in Utilities or from any AutoText template form by selecting Manage AutoText
Creating AutoText is easy to do. This feature was introduced in 2017
